When speaking about a location, how do I know if I should use "at", "in" or "on"?
Usually, it goes from "big" or "less specific" to "small" or "more specific". So when we speak about bigger/broader locations we'll use "in" like for a country, then "on" for a street, and then "at" for a specific location.

"to influence" is not use with a preposition, it's a direct object complement without a preposition.
