I think he tries so hard because he lost a part of himself when he left Daisy and he’s been lost ever since. This shows that Gatsby was a different man before and that he only had love for one woman.

He says that Gatsby is a bootlegger and this shows that Tom may be jealous and a bit angered that Gatsby and Daisy are getting close.

After learning everything about Gatsby’s past why do you think he changed and what did he gain from changing? What did he loose?
He changed because he felt it was time for a clear slate a chance that a lot of people don’t get. He gained popularity and wealth but he lived a lonely life without anyone knowing who he truly is.
What was the tone depicted by Nick after the party was over and in regards of romance?
The tone was unique and rare at this time, saying that a rare and unbelievable guest could show up and wipe away 5 years of devotion.
