For this SKB students at level D follow along or repeat parts of nursery rhymes or simple songs when listening to them. At Level 3, they can actually say a word that rhymes with a given word.

For these SKBs students can remember and act in accordance with multiple classrooms rules with visual and auditory cues and works independently to complete an activity from start to finish.

For this SKB the teacher collected a work sample from Keith. He drew three different pictures to represent the three major events of a story. He then described each picture, saying, “First the boy went out on a sunny day, then it rained, and last he took a hot bath.”

Being able to recognize 1-5 objects in a set without counting is easy for students in this SKB. They can identify 1-3 objects in an unfamiliar pattern and 4 or 5 objects in a familiar pattern.

For this SKB Anna asked, "How do I spell 'sun?," The teacher told her to try to sound it out. Anna slowly said each sound: "/s/, /u/, /n/." Then she put the sounds together, saying "sun." Later during the small group, the teacher asked Anna to try to put the sounds "/d/","/o/," and "/g/" together. She said "dog."
