An OSY would like some information on pesticide safety. You get a lesson from GOSOSY and get resources from the MN Dept of Ag. You give the lesson and answer his questions about pesticides.

The MEP had purchased GED prep materials that you distributed to an eligible 20-year-old.

MEP purchased math games for families. You distributed them to an eligible family and explained how to play them.

An eligible OSY that does not speak English asks you to help him contact the doctor for an appointment. You contact the clinic (with the OSY) and help him get an appointment set up and get registered with the clinic.

You know that the OSY in the BBE camp need some education about banking. There is a lesson on the GOSOSY website that you can use. You also obtained resources from the local banks for the students. You give the lesson and the resources on Wednesday night at the camp. A new OSY was there and you were able to determine eligibility.

A parent asks about how to improve their child's attendance at school. You gather resources and talk to the parent about how to improve attendance. The family is grateful for your help because they had never had formal schooling before and didn't understand the process in the USA.

You host an event and invite agencies that provide food, clothing, and legal advice for migrant families. You also have a dental bus come to provide basic dental checkups. Many eligible families come to the event and participate in the activities and get free supplies. As they sign in, you give them free educational supplies for their kids.

You set up a booth at Seneca in the break room. After people interview with you and their children are determined eligible, you show the parent how to use the first aid kit purchased with MEP funds and then you give them the kit to take home.

The Regional Recruiter (MEP funded staff) interviews the eligible student to determine needs, then talked to Lidi to get GED resources for the student. The RR then gave the OSY the GED materials he needed to study for the test. 

What is Out of School Youth (OSY) Profile and GED/High School Equivalency?

You set up a story station and read to children while their parents are in a parent meeting. During the parent meeting, you show the parents how to do a book walk and talk about the importance of reading. Before the children go, you give them free books (that you wrote a grant for) to take home.
