Educators Disability
This plan has multiple elimination periods (e.g. 1/4, 8/8, 15/15, 30/30, 60/60).
What is Plan III?
This benefit is processed at 58% of salary max and comes with a yearly wage chart.
What is TDI (Temporary Disability Income)?
This benefit is strictly 100% employee paid, and can be added to the member's core LTD if they want a higher benefit.
What is LTD Buy up?
This benefit is payable on all the Educators' Disability Plan, when a member can return to work on restricted hours and limitations.
What is Partial Disability?
The STD formula is a weekly benefit therefore we use the member's salary divided by a certain amount of weeks.
What is 52 weeks?
LTD is a monthly benefit, therefore we must calculate the member's salary divided by a certain amount of months.
What is 12 months?
The Survivor Benefit pays spouse or surviving children who are under age 25, a lump sum equal to three times a member's last monthly benefit if he/she pass after having been disabled for 180 or more consecutive days and were receiving disability benefits, and is available on these two Educators' Disability Plan.
What is Plan I and II?
There are two business rules that are normally applied to all disability plans. One allows the member to receive benefits up to a certain amount of time, and the other the member has to satisfy before benefits begin.

What is Social Security Normal Retirement age?
This benefit is increased and payable on the first day of hospitalization due to a disability and is available on Plan 3 and 4.
What is inpatient hospitalization?
This benefit is an agreement between us and the group, is billed by our Finance Dept., and plan agreements can be found in our S Drive.
What is ASO/ATP?
When a member is out on LTD for a period of time, we may inquire if the member can perform any duties outside of his/her gainful occupation.
What is Any Occupation?
This can occur if a member is eligible to receive additional benefits or income while receiving a monthly disability benefit from USAble.
What is Benefit Reduction?
This benefit is available for members from their employers when they want to add to their core/base benefit to make it a higher amount. It is 100% employee paid.
What is STD Buy Up?
When a member asks for a Group LTD Claim form, we will need to ensure we are providing the correct one either to DRMS or GRP (Hartford). We will be able to identify this by looking in the class structure, under this category.
