What is fear and what is confidence?

Fear is an unpleasant or disturbing feeling, immense when near danger. We feel it toward people in power over us, or rivals who are stronger than us.

Confidence is the opposite of fear, a mental picture of the closeness of what keeps us safe and the absence of what is scary. We feel it within ourselves, when we have met danger and escaped it safely.

Pity is pain caused by observing any undeserved evil. It's caused by the sight of someone in unjust pain.

Indignation is the pain of seeing an undeserved good for someone that doesn't deserve it. It's caused by the sight of unearned prosperity.

What is Envy and what is Emulation?

Envy is discontent or jealousy over someone else's success that seems unattainable, and is caused by the sight of someone doing better than you are. 

Emulation is good feeling felt by good persons, caused by seeing an equal with some desirable and aquirable characteristic. It is felt toward men held in honor whom others think are deserving.
