The arrangements of elements (subject or objects) in a photograph or scene
What is Composition?
A circle shaped opening in the lens of a camera that allows light to hit the image sensor. It can be adjusted to control the light.
What is aperture?
A photo made up of varying tones of black and white.
What is grey scale.
Temporary data storage in a camera before written to the card in order to allow all functions to perform.
What is buffer?

What is a Charged Coupled Device?
The difference between the lightest and darkest parts of an image.
What is Dynamic Range?
A brief sudden burst of light.
What is flash?
The lightest part of an image.
What is highlights.
Enlargement made by the camera, but it's not true, or optical.
What is Digital Zoom?
A low powered monitor on the top or back of a camera that is used to display settings or to show the picture itself.
What is an L.C.D. screen
What is existing light surrounding a subject , the light illuminating a scene without any additional light.
What is Ambient Light?
Length is the distance between the focal point of a lens and and the film plane when the lens is focused on infinity.
What is focal length?
Providing extra exposure to an area in order to make it darker.
What is Burning?
When light is allowed to hit the image sensor.
What is Exposure?
A digital cameras sensitivity to light
What is ISO.
The amount of light that reaches your camera sensor or film.
What is Exposure?
Used in a supplementary manner to fill in a subjects shadow areas.
A print made from several small photos at one time. Usually made up of the best images of your shoot.
What is a contact print?
DPI. a measure of print resolution.
CMOS
The range of difference between the highlights and the shadows of a photograph.
What is contrast.
The range of distance in a scene that appears to be in focus and will reproduce accepably.
What is depth of field?
Manipulating a digital image in order to make an area lighter.
What is dodging?
The amount of data stored in a image file, measure in pixel per inch (PPI)
What is Image resolution
A transparent double sided device that is meant to focal light by refraction to a fixed focal point.
