Class readings
THIS ARTICLE was part of me learning and truly understanding how important pronouncing a students name is. It highlights the insensitivity of mispronouncing someone's name. How this can be a tiny act of bigotry, and how something that may seem like a small deal can be a big deal to certain students.

Over the semester I found this to be the most important factor in being an educator.
Focusing on the student as an individual, finding what works for them and gives them the best chance to succeed and feel comfortable in the classroom/school.
I made sure to avoid this through my experience with students who may be acting out or not doing what they are supposed to do.

This job when I was 19 really solidified me pursuing education as a career.
One of my class readings focused on these type of schools, and one in specific. They were free schools for African Americans in the South during the Civil Rights Movement that sought to find more social, political, and economic equality for African Americans.

These helped me document my time at Murray. Through my documenting of what I did at Murray I was able to receive feedback as well as give myself critique and feedback, all in effort to prepare me and help me be in a classroom of my own.

This group informed me on the multiple pathways you can take to teaching. Few which i was unaware of. They discussed the license tier system which I had little to no knowledge on and explained the differences of them and what they implied.

The name of this article called out the issues in the public education system. It emphasized the negatives behind a competitive education system (such as standardized test scores, or the "the race to the top") and how this makes learning exclusively selfish with a no social motive behind it.

Being able to be with this age level of students over my time at Murray showed me how much fun I had working with THIS GRADE, before the semester I was dead set on working in secondary education such as HS but my experience at Murray showed me my enjoyment for this grade.
8th grade/Middle School
This tactic showed me how impactful/important it is on students when trying to get them to do their work, listen, pay attention, etc.
This group gave me an abundance of understanding on Teachers Unions, an extremely long discourse took place during class about Teachers Unions when this group presented and gave me a ton of knowledge on them, how they work, what they do, etc.

This was my favorite activity we did in class with groups.
Creating our own school. I loved working with my peers and coming up with all these ideas on what we think would make a wonderful school, one that would benefit our students to the fullest.
This definition by Alex Shevrin Venet focuses on the impact of trauma on the entire school community and preventing it from happening in the future. Key things such as equity and social justice are things that can cause this, and call for change in teaching style, curriculum, etc.
Classroom Partners at Murray Middle School
My teacher focused on THIS EMPHASIS as being the most important one in the class, his constant addressing of it and making sure it was being done is a model I want to commit to 100% as a teacher.
This group discussed the multiple forms of schooling such as private, alternative, public, etc. They too talked about Magnet schools which is a school with a special type of curriculum or altered courses, up until the presentation by this group i was unaware Magnet schools were a thing.
My favorite part of CI 3901 was...
Being able to interact with fellow future teachers every class time, and do hands on activities with them.
This book gave me an important perspective on teaching through personal experiences the author faced. A focus of public education reform and a "student first" type of teaching style showed me the importance of students as individuals, and creating the best environment for them all to exceed and explore their own creativity and interests.
To Teach
As I continued through the semester taking THIS CLASS it only continued to show me that I wanted to be a teacher. Through multiple readings, class exercises/activities I only felt myself becoming more prepared to be a teacher in my future. I learned new things and gained many perspectives that left a positive impact on me.

I simply saw this as being the most satisfying and rewarding part of working in the classroom with my students.
Seeing them feel accomplished and happy with their work, or whatever it was that was being done in class that day.
This amazing group covered the difficult and controversial topic of CRT. Explaining what CRT is, the controversy around it, what states have banned it or have laws about it, how they impact students and teachers, and more.

CI 3902, The emphasis on this being a more personal and getting to know yourself type of class has me excited. And Jehanne's emphasis on it being her favorite class has me excited to begin taking it in January.
