A chronic, relapsing disorder characterized by compulsive drug seeking, continued use despite harmful consequences, and long-lasting changes in the brain. It is considered both a complex brain disorder and a mental illness.
What is addiction?
A mental state is achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.
What is mindfulness?
To cause (an event or situation) to happen or exist.
What is a trigger?
A powerful, often overwhelming desire to use drugs.
What is a craving (or urge?)
Adjusting to unusual demands, or stressors. To deal with and attempt to overcome problems and difficulties.
What is coping?
A deterioration in someone's state of health after a temporary improvement.
What is relapse?
Conditions that affect your thinking, feeling, mood, and behavior. They may be occasional or long-lasting (chronic).
What is Mental Health Disorder?
The practice of taking an active role in protecting one's own well-being and happiness, in particular during periods of stress.
What is self-care?
The state of not affected by alcohol or other drugs; not intoxicated.
What is sobriety
A condition that can occur with the regular use of illicit or some prescription drugs, even if taken as prescribed. This is characterized by withdrawal symptoms when drug use is stopped.
What is Dependence?
A sequence of actions regularly followed; a fixed program.

Overcoming or managing one's disease(s) as well as living in a physically and emotionally healthy way
