In 5th grade, we were at school when an unexpected snow storm hit and we had an early dismissal. After I got home, there was no power so my family and I just decided to stay home for the rest of the day.

Within the time of the novel, racism is common and flourishing especially in Maycomb. Atticus hopes that throughout his case, Scout and Jem do not become racist like the rest of Maycomb.
