The Hickory Grove Road and Brady Street buildings are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Your service hours will vary depending on your preferences, work assignments, planned activities, and transportation schedules.

The specific time you will take your breaks depends on your work area or day hab activity. Your staff will remind you of your lunch and break times daily. You are responsible for returning to work or day hab activity on time when your break or lunch is over.
How long are breaks and lunches?
What is 15 minutes for breaks and 30 minutes for lunch.
Lunch and breaks are taken in the multi-purpose room, patio areas, or an office. You may not remain in your work area during this time. Breaks may be taken in the technology lab but no food or beverages are allowed in the area.
When should you order lunch and snacks?

If you attend work/day hab at Employment Services you may bring a sack lunch or you may purchase a lunch from the kitchen. If you wish to order lunch from the kitchen you must order it and pay for it prior to reporting to work or day hab services. A variety of snacks and beverages may be purchased. You may access microwaves, refrigerator and toaster.
True or False: You do NOT need to be clean or neat while at HDC?
What is False.
Keep yourself neat and clean. You should always strive to be clean each day. This means bathing regularly, using deodorant, and shampooing your hair. Facial hair should be neatly groomed.
True or False: T-shirts CAN have offensive writing and pictures on them?
What is False.
T-Shirts with writing or pictures must NOT be offensive to others

Earrings, necklaces, bracelets, lanyards, long hair, dresses, skirts, and loose-flowing clothes are not allowed near rotating machinery.

Shoes that are full coverage, preferably leather, are required in the production areas and you will not be allowed in those areas without the proper shoes. Tennis shoes are recommended for day habilitation activities.

How many vacation days can you take off?
What is 15 days?
If you are full time(5 days a week) you can take 15 unpaid. If you are part time you may take 10 unpaid days.

Also your assigned casemanager may request that you provide documentation from your medical provider at any time your absence related to sick leave is deemed excessive.

Bereavement Leave -up to three days may be taken the event of the death of an immediate family member. Immediate family consists of; mother, father, brother, sister, spouse, child, grandparents or relative living with you.

One "day" is your normal scheduled service day. Additional days off may be taken but will require payment to HDC of the daily fee to ensure continuation of your services. The fee for each service is available from your casemanager.

What is Inservice, New Year’ Day, Labor Day, Martin Luther King Day, Thanksgiving Day, Good Friday (afternoon only), Friday after Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, Christmas Day, Fourth of July.
Certain years the day services are also closed for New Year’s Eve and Christmas Eve. Refer to your annual Inservice Schedule for exact holidays each year.

You may not bring alcohol or illegal drugs onto the premises. You may not participate in services or remain at HDC while under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.

Tobacco use in any form, including electronic smoking devices (E-cigs), vaporizers, or chewing tobacco, is prohibited in all HDC buildings and courtyards, as well as in all HDC vehicles and personal vehicles while used on HDC business. Tobacco use is permitted at the Hickory Grove Road location outside the building at a reasonable distance from the multipurpose room doors.

What is False.
It is very important to report all accidents immediately, so that staff can do whatever may be necessary. If something is more serious than can be treated with first aid, the necessary steps will be taken to get professional assistance.
Weapons are allowed at HDC?

HDC prohibits the carrying or possession of any weapon while on HDC property or while receiving HDC services. This includes pocket knives, box cutters, etc.

Personal cell phones/electronic devices should be turned off or put to silent or vibrate mode during your day services.

If needed your day services staff will make a phone available to you for use during your break. Occasionally, you may receive an emergency phone call and you may be called away from your activities. Personal cell phones/electronic devices should be turned off or put to silent or vibrate mode during your day services. At your home you have the right to use your devices whenever you desire as long as there are not specific reasons written into your ISP that restrict your rights.

HDC does not allow employees to accept gifts from participants or their families. Please do not give gifts to any staff person. All HDC staff work together to provide services and we ask that you not single out individual staff.
