During Covid surge we implemented proning for Covid patient who were not intubated

We no longer discontinue our PIV at day 4 but assess for s/s of irritation and remove as needed. 

We added a safety tray New protocol was presented to Nursing, indicating Nursing discretion to order the appropriate safety precaution for meal tray. this is for patients who may use utensil as a weapon for self harm or harm others as well as patients who ingest utensils

Peer feedback and a self appraisal are completed and inform a professional goal for professional development created by the staff member.

These are both incorporated into the employee performance evaluation by the manager and the employee

Use QIMS to identify areas for improvement one intervention was administration of the phenobarbital loading that had begun in the ICU

We devolved an algorithm to provide care for patients who develop ETOH withdrawal and are started on a  load with phenobarbital, and then transfer to Med Sug and may need additional doses. This  provided guidance for the safe administration and  monitoring of patients receiving IV phenobarbital at all levels of care

We integrate EBP using Quality Improvements (Using QIMS), EBP for our policy and procedures through practice council and our research and innovation chose Johns hopkins model to evaluate our EBP. Nursing research we use Silverman posters and NGR to highlight nursing research

What is: our unit goal is 2 percent

We are tracking CAUTI, CLABSI, HAPI, Falls. We have significantly improved our HAPI and have improved CAUTI we are currently changing our focus to falls. We are trying to be sure all our staff understand our IHI bundle and RN/PCT discussions are ongoing throughout the shift for any changes
