Why is ראש השנה considered the first day of the 7TH MONTH????
Isn't תשרי the first month?
We start counting from ניסן when we left מצרים.
Which two קרבנות do we learn from about יום כיפור?
If יוה"כ is really on the 10th, why does one פסוק tell us it's on the 9th?
If you eat on the 9th with intention to fast on the 10th, you get credit for eating on the 9th and the 10th!!!

One pasuk כתוב, writes, to remember blowing shofar, and one says to blow shofar.
No problem! כַּאן, here, it's talking about Rosh Hashanah is חַל, happens, on a weekday (actually blow), and another is when it happens on Shabbos (just remember).
The words יום תרועה sound like you're really blowing שופר.
The words זכרון תרועה sound like you're just remembering שופר.
What am I supposed to do??
Don't blow on שבת... that's why it says זכרון תרועה.
But on the weekday, we DO blow שופר... that's why it says יום תרועה
According to רש"י (and ONLY רש"י), what does the word אך teach us in our פסוק?
Some people don't get כפרה on יום כיפור.
If יוה"כ is really on the 10th, why does one פסוק tell us it's on the 9th?
It teaches us יוה"כ (and every other שבת/יו"ט) really starts before the sun goes down.
We light candles about 18 minutes before.
Page 3 in the משנה ברורה
אַף עַל גַב, even though, that we don't blow shofar at night, מִכֹּל מָקוֹם, however, still say יום תרועה because וַדָאי a person will blow tomorrow (and the day starts at night).
Which שב ואל תעשה - גזירה did חז"ל make having to do with ראש השנה?
Why?
Don't blow the שופר on שבת... we're scared you'll walk ד' אמות in רשות הרבים.
Get the facts straight:
שוגג (And/Or) מזיד People?
Only תשובה People? Or Even without תשובה?
These קרבנות are מכפר for:
Only שוגג people (that sin on accident)
Only תשובה people (that feel bad for their sin)
What's the best thing to do when bentching after the סעודה המפסקת? Why?
There's a מנהג to start the fast after you finish bentching.
So... it's best to have in mind (and even say out loud) that you're not beginning the fast until later.
Then you can have a Cliff Bar, Gatorade, or whatever... don't forget water!!!
Page 7 from the גמרא ברכות
The Torah כְתִיב you should fast on the 9th of the month. וְכִי, and so, I thought you were supposed to fast on the 10th? אֶלָא, rather, if you eat tons on the 9th, you get credit כְּאִילוּ, as if, you ate on the 9th and the 10th
What happens if Daddy says זכרון תרועה during קידוש this Sunday night on ראש השנה?
It's okay... בדיעבד, because the תורה says both.
When the תורה said זכרון תרועה, the תורה really had in mind for you to blow, it was just חז"ל that took the מצוה to blow away.
But if Daddy remembered before finishing the ברכה, he could go back to יום תרועה.
Don't tell him off though... giving תוכחה to parents is אסור!!!!
Why should we think יוה"כ is stronger than חטאת ואשם, and would be מכפר even if one didn't do תשובה?
Since יוה"כ IS מכפר, even if one did the עבירה on purpose, maybe you'd think it could מכפר even if the person didn't do תשובה for the עבירה...
WRONG... the word אך says that's incorrect.
Which types of עבירות is there technically a מצוה to give תוכחה for? (Yes... you need the Hebrew term!)
Technically a מצוה for things that are מפורש בקרא, explicitly explained in a pasuk.
Page 8
If people are eating until חַשֵׁכָה, dark, because they didn't attend רבי's class, we're not מַמְחִין, tell them off, כְּדֵי, in order, that they don't come to do the עבירה on purpose.
