What do you do for fun as a team?
- We are all friends at school so we spend a lot of time together.
-We went on a team field trip to Coastal Roots Farm.
- We had a team bowling night.
- We look forward to coming to practice to work on robotics.
What is your project solution?
Composting in every household!
Do you use sensors?
We haven't learned the code for sensors yet, but we are excited to learn about it for next years season.
What are the 6 core values?

How did you make sure everyone was involved and understood the missions and the codes?
One person would work on the code and the other people on the team would test the code and help change it to make it work. At the end of each session, the whole team would get together and show and tell what was done.
What other ideas did you have for your project solution? How did you choose your solution?
-We thought of ammonia powered tractors, how to order food at restaurants to prevent food waste, and reducing the distance trucks have to move food by buying local.
- We all talked about the solutions we came up with, and voted on the one we thought was best.
What were some ideas you tried when programming your robots that didn't work?
-We tried to solve mission 10 using only 1 program by using the attachment to pull the lever down and release all 3 energy units-- but it didn't work and we ended up using 2 programs.
- We also tried to create a program to move the dinosaur from 1 side of the table to the other, but realized it would take too much time.
- We tried to release the car after the windmill, but had a hard time with the position of the robot after the windmill.
How did you use innovation in your projects and robot game this season?
We created new attachments and jigs to help accomplish missions in the robot game. When something didn't go right, we innovated a new way to do it.
Who's favorite movie is Avatar The Way of Water?
Who loves video games?
-Lincoln
-Reid
Who are your coaches? Can you talk about your coaches and what they did?
-We have 3 coaches, Coach Shardul, Coach Chad, and Coach Drew.
- Our coaches encouraged us to be creative and work as a team to solve missions. They would ask us questions to help us come up with ideas, and helped us when we were having problems.
How did you improve on your solution?
We shared with the experts at Coastal Roots Farm and they gave us ideas on how to improve the way we could spread the word about composting. We decided to make fliers that we could give to people in our community.
Did you use any jigs to help align your robot?
Yes, we used a jig on the second program for the power plant in Mission 10. We tried to use a jig for the first program on this mission, but it was easier to just line it up with the marks on the board.
What did you DISCOVER during this FLL season?
-While researching food waste, we discovered it was the 2nd largest greenhouse gas emitter in the world.
-We also discovered $218 billion dollars a year is lost in food waste.
-We learned how to compost at our trip to Coastal roots farm.
Who's favorite TV show is Alien TV? Who loves to play video games on his Nintendo Switch?
-Mitch
-Ishaan
Did you have any disagreements? If so, how would you solve them?
Yes, sometimes we had different ideas about the best way to do something. We would solve them by trying each person's solution to see which one worked the best. If there were 2 ideas that were good, we would try to use a little bit of both.
Why did you pick composting as your solution?
We felt it was the easiest to start doing in our homes, and will also make the biggest impact.
How did you choose your missions?
We chose missions that would end close to home so that we wouldn't have to have the robot go all the way across the table to get to home. We chose them based on how close they were to each other, and what attachments were needed.
We hope our ideas can help to reduce food waste.
