What is race
A combination of education, income, occupation and other social standing.
What is socioeconomic status
Efforts to curb discrimination in education, employment and government contracting. Often thought to benefit oppressed ethnic groups, but research shows white woman made more inroads as a result of this program
What is affirmative action
The everyday slights, indignities, put downs and insults that marginalized people experience in their day to day interactions
What is microaggression
Our tendency to interpret information based on a way that confirms our own beliefs and experiences
What is confirmation bias
A blanket term to include those who do not identify as white or Caucasian. Its use can continue to perpetuate defining a group based on white or Caucasian

This term usually implies a social AND economic hierarchy, in which those of a higher class standing have greater status, privilege, prestige, and authority
