How are Medieval Literature and Renaissance Literature different?

In medieval literature characters naturally experience the unnatural or magical elements in the story, Catholicism was the official religion and there was more emphasis on individuals rather than on religion. In the Renaissance, literature involved religion, historical and social issues which were under human analysis. It examines society by groups on class, occupation, function, status and other designations. Science and investigation gave rise to Humanism, which asserted the value of man, his dignity, and his lack of limitations. Catholicism was challenged by the protestants and a new way of studying the Bible.
