Represents each category as a rectangle and is used to compare any set of quantities that are measured in the same units

Tells what values the variable takes and how often it takes these values
What is distribution?
Described using either the median or the mean
What is the center?
Provides a quick overall description of the distribution using the median, the quartiles, and the maximum and minimum values
What is the five-number summary?
Displays percentages from each category. Used when comparing categories within a table.
What is a relative frequency table?
Takes numerical values for which it makes sense to find an average
What is a quantitative variable?
An individual that falls outside of the overall pattern
What is an outlier?
A chart that uses the 5 number summary for comparing distributions
What is a box plot?
displays frequencies or relative frequencies for two categorical variables. Often used to summarize large amounts of information by grouping outcomes into categories

A way of describing the shape of a distribution when there are more individuals on one side.
What is skewed?
Measures the average distance of the observations from the mean. Calculated by finding the average of the squared distances and then taking the square root.
