"Each of the people begins at morning, selling his soul – either freeing it [thereby] or destroying it."

What does this mean?

Every single day we are vendors of our souls. Allah SWT has given us energy so that we may carry ourselves however we choose in our livelihood and interactions.

We sell our souls by either freeing it or destroying it. All throughout each day we make conscious decisions pertaining to how we will approach our prayer, how we will abstain from sins, how many deeds we will perform, and how we will carry ourselves in our interactions.

What are wisdoms of the interaction when Allah SWT gave the Prophet SAW the commandment of prayers?

This meeting shows the status of the prayer. Every other commandment was sent down to the Prophet ﷺ but this one was given on such a special occasion.


The wisdom in Allah SWT lowering the number from 50 can be a display of His SWT Mercy. Allah SWT wants to make things easy for us by asking of us only 20 to 30 minutes a day.

It remind us that we were created to worship Allah SWT. If prayer was 50 times a day, it would be all that we have time for and we would have to make an attempt to pray like the Angels do. But Allah SWT knows our capabilities and gave us 5 which is more than manageable in comparison.
