When you generate a hospitalization event for a patient, a missed treatment event is also generated. Does that missed treatment event count as a missed treatment and a hospitalization? Does the missed treatment even need to be removed after period close?

That event counts as as a hospital admission and will show up in the PPPY number AND a missed treatment due to hospitalization. These are simply two different ways to understand the same data. You should not remove the treatment event. Both hospitalization and the missed treatment due to hospitalization are included in HMT data. In DQI 2024, the hospital admission will impact your hospitalization score, but missed treatments due to hospitalizations no longer impact your DQI missed treatment score (only missed treatments due to no shows affect this score).
