“I am going to show you some letters. Look at each and say its name.
Not the sound, but the name. Do you understand what you are supposed to do?

When I say “Begin”, please tell me the names of the letters as quickly and carefully as you can. Start here and continue this way (Point to the first letter - p - and draw your finger across the first line.

How do you move on when a student scores less than 7? 

If the student scores less than 7 out of 10, then go to the reading passage one level below the last level that the student mastered.

What should you do to move on from one passage to the next?

Count the number of errors that the student has made in the reading passage. Consult the Reading Level box to determine the student’s reading level. Move on to the next reading passage if the student has not yet reached his/her Frustration Level.
