God made the animals clean by Jesus’ sacrifice, the animals no longer needed to be separated, they were no longer unclean. In the same way, the Gentiles were no longer unclean and God wanted Peter to bring the gospel to the Gentiles.

Why did God want salvation to be given to both the Jews AND the Gentiles now?

God wants to save people who seek Him from every nation.  The gospel offers salvation to all people.

Our sins separate us from God. Our sins can only be forgiven by trusting in Jesus, not by good works. Because Jesus paid the price for our sins by his death and resurrection, we have eternal life.  Peter said it was the good news of peace through Jesus Christ.
