This document is prepared for every project that must undergo an environmental assessment but can vary in length and complexity.

What is a Transportation Environmental Study Report (TESR).

With the February 22, 2024, amendments, new highways or freeways of any length would be considered within this grouping.

The date of the most recent amendments to the Class EA.

A document that is distributed to the public, stakeholders, as well as Indigenous communities and organizations to notify them that a project is starting the environmental assessment process.

Due to regular wear and tear, there are cracks that need to be repaired in the surface of a bridge. The bridge falls within the designated MTO right of way and is not known to have any heritage value. This work is performed regularly every several years as cracks appear, making it fall within this grouping of work.

A Group C project has not yet issued a Notice of Commencement under the 2000 Class EA, but has procured and signed a contract with a consultant for the work. The project must be performed under which Class EA.

A document that would be prepared following completion of a TESR if a significant modification to the project or in the environmental setting for the project occurs.

The grouping of a culvert that requires rehabilitation after it has recently fallen below MTO operational standards, which falls outside the designated MTO right of way and is known to have provincial heritage value.

The city of Toronto has chosen to add bike lanes in both the northbound and southbound directions to Yonge Street between Dundas and College Street. The bike lane addition will fall outside the MTO designated right of way but make no changes to traffic capacity of the road, making this project fall within this grouping.
