Exit corridors and emergency exit routes must have equipment to one side of hall and at least 8 ft. of clearance maintained.
Can a family member or friend be used to interpret for a patient or legal guardian?
No. We must use trained interpreters. It is also prohibited to use other employees.

When should you perform hand hygiene?
Use soap and water when hands are visibly soiled, before eating, after using the rest room, and when leaving and enteric precautions room.
Alcohol based hand rub can be used in other circumstances.
Can you share your login credentials with another person if they really need it?
No, allowing others to use your sign on may compromise patient privacy and falsify the record.

Gloves are changed when moving from dirty to clean on the patient, or in the patient environment going from dirty to clean.
When a patient is placed on precautions, how do you know, and what should you do?
signage will be present on the outside of the door indicating what protective equipment you need to enter the room.
What is the purpose of medication reconciliation?
to reduce the risk of an adverse drug event resulting from interaction of drug prescribed at NMMC and drug that the patient was already taking.
How do you properly identify a patient before administering medications, treatments or blood products?
Always use two patient identifiers; name and either DOB or medical record number.
How frequently do we have fire drills?
Quarterly fire drills, at a minimum.
What items may be stored in the medication fridge?
only medications and laboratory media.
What hours can a patient have visitors?
Except for the psych unit, where visitation is scheduled component of the daily program, pts are allowed to have visitors at their discretion, it is not limited to a time of day.
All verbal orders must be signed within what time frame?
72 hrs.
What kinds of things do we do to keep patients safe and meet the national patient safety goals?
Identify patients correctly, ensure critical results get to a provider, ensure alarms are responded to, reduce suicide risk through screening and intervention if needed, prevent mistakes surgery, and sure equality in care.
