What is a star

Object in space that gives off heat and light

100

An astronomer is

a scientist that studies stars, planets and the solar system

100

Gravity is...

The force that pulls things to Earth's center.

100

My five senses include

sight, smell, touch, sound, taste

100

Why do scientists create models?

Scientists create models to answer questions about the real world

200

How long does it take the Earth to experience one full orbitanional pattern around the sun?

1 year

200

Name the star(s) that we have in our solar system

The Sun

200

If I drop my pencil on the floor in Brooklyn and Tamiyah drops her pencil on the floor in Nigeria, where do both pencils go?

Both pencils fall to the ground/Earth's center

200

All matter is made of

atoms

200

What does it mean to visualize something?

To make a picture in your mind using information from different sources

300

Why do I only see the sun in the daytime?

I only see the sun in the daytime because its light overwhelms the light from the other stars

300

When do we see the same stars in the sky?

We see the same stars in the sky on the same day of the year, each year.

300

Name an example of an instance where gravity is shown

.....

300

What are molecules

Atoms grouped together

300

Why do scientists create models?

To answer questions about the real world

400

Which movement of Earth results in Earth experiencing 24 hour days

The rotation of Earth on its axis

400

Why does the sun look bigger and brighter?

Because it is the only star in our solar system and it is much closer to Earth than other stars.

400

Why don't humans fall of Earth

The gravitational pull on humans cause us to always be pulled to the ground.

400

Substances are made of

Only one type of atom or molecule

400

When scientists plan investigations they need to:

Observe and record data

Plan for things they will keep the same and things they will change

500

Why do I see different stars at different times of the year.

Because of Earth's orbital pattern around the sun. As Earth moves around the sun, different constellations come into view.

500

If it is summer and Ms. Bradley is trying to see the constellation Orion and she doesn't see it. Why is this?

The Earth is not in front of that constellation. The Earth has to orbit in order for Ms. Bradley to see the constellation.

500

Which way is up? Will everyone's up be in the same direction? Why or why not?

Up is the opposite way of the gravitational pull. Everyone's up will not be the same. As long as a person is standing on Earth, and they point away from the ground, they are pointing up.

500

Mixtures are made of

Different kinds of atoms and molecules

On every question on the IA I need to....

Mark it up and use POE
