What is a conflict?
The teacher placed students in a group for a class presentation. He told the students to assign a group leader for their groups. Alexia and Amari argue over the role as they both wanted it.
What is power struggle?
Alfred and Ginny are arguing. Alfred had asked Ginny to borrow her charger but Ginny said no. Alfred was tempted to remind Ginny of the time he had given her a piece of his cake when she asked but, he refrained.
What is focus on the problem?
Short term disagreement.
What is a dispute?
Grampa Andre died, leaving all his properties to his Grandsons, Peter and Paul. They fight over who gets the most valuable properties.
What is Greed?
Alvin and Simon were having a dispute. Simon wanted to change the font on the PowerPoint but Alvin disagreed. Alvin then decided to try to listen to what Simon was saying.
What is listen and hear?
A discussion between two parties for a solution to a problem.
What is negotiation?
Mrs. Bartley assigned Todd to recheck the food stock. Five minutes later she returned and ordered him to call the delivery persons immediately while he was still checking the stock. Now Todd is confused as to what he should do.
What is lack of Planning?
Jenna had borrowed Charlie's phone. While she was using it, it fell from her hands and broke. Jenna went to Charlie to explain what had happened and apologize. Charlie understood and reassured Jenna that it was okay.
What is being willing to forgive?
The intervention of a third party.
What is mediation?
Becky, an Indian, goes to school in Jamaica. Every day during school, Tiffany a native Jamaican sings stereotypical Indian songs to mock Becky.
Katie was having a bad day. She was lost in her thoughts when she bumped into Georgia. Georgia's computer fell and broke. Instead of cursing Katie, she talked to her; they discussed how the computer would get fixed or replaced and its cost. They both agreed on a settled price.
What is negotiate and compromise?
Assisting a group to review and discuss a resolution to a situation.
What is Facilitation?
Jonny and Daina have been together for thirteen years. Every time Jonny uses the toilet he leaves the seat up. Daina is completely frustrated after telling Jonny repeatedly to put the seat down. Now, they are angry at each other over this matter.
What is relationship issues?
Layla stepped on Daniel's shoe without apologizing. Daniel took a deep breath and gathered his thoughts. He felt angry that she did not apologize. Instead of lashing out at her, he bent down and wiped the dirt from his shoe.
