The Swanson Food Co., recently entering the frozen food market, had ordered too many turkeys to process and distribute during Thanksgiving, i.e., 260 tons too much. Their frozen turkeys were packed in 10 refrigerated train cars that could only keep the turkeys frozen if the cars were moving — a costly endeavor.
