False - a person experiencing a crisis cannot think logically until they regulate themselves
When are buddies allowed to access their snacks/drinks? When is caffeine allowed?
Snacks/Drinks only when campers are not around (before they wake up, during cot time, and after camper lights out)
Caffeine only before campers wake up and during cot time. Not allowed after cot time
This is what you shout for the three man rule

Pick two people - have them show us what the arm's length rule might look like in three different scenarios.
(1) While playing a team game like soccer
(2) While eating a meal
(3) When your camper is irritated and wants some space
Looking for
(1) staying close enough by to play together without tripping on one another. Focus in on your camper but allows for some space.
(2) eating together includes sitting at the same table and engaging with one another.
(3) Giving some space, but remaining close enough to maintain safety and/or getting another buddy/staff to step in
What are 3 preventative steps you can take for a camper who gets angry when they overheat for too long
some options include: take breaks inside, make sure your camper is drinking a lot of ice water, making a paper fan to bring around, communicate with your camper about their temperature to catch it before they get too hot
How do we handle medication at Hope's Haven?
All medication goes to the nurses. None are allowed in the cabins. The nurses will dispense the medication for everyone at camp. If you need medication that isn't on the list, talk to the nurses (have your staff radio for a nurse if needed)

Your group must perform the following: The beaver song
Show us what it looks like when your camper elopes (makes a break for it)
Looking and calling for a third, running, and getting in front of them, doing supportive stance, and verbally redirecting
Define anxiety behavior (remember this is different than anxiety as an emotion)
Anxiety (distress) Behavior: Any behavior (verbal or nonverbal) that indicates a person is beginning to become distressed.
Key word we're looking for is: Distress
How do we handle shower time?
Wear gloves, use the highest level of independence possible, hand over hand if necessary

Show us what to do if a camper tries to sit in your lap
Direct the camper away from your lap and remind them that "at camp we sit beside our friends"

Directive
Directive response: Short, simple phrases that provide limits to the person in distress. This comes from a place of love and support, not anger.
Pick one person and have them show us how to dispose of gloves
Looking for pinching in the middle and grabbing underneath the other glove to limit exposure to germs on the outside of the glove

Your group must perform the following: River of life
At Emily's Discretion
Show us what you'd do if your camper refuses to put on their life jacket. Every time you get it on them they take it off.
Looking for redirection, firm but kind tone, giving options, and creative solutions (put on the jacket backwards so they can't take it off)
SAFELY demonstrate escaping the following behaviors:
Hair grabbing, neck grabbing, wrist grabbing, throwing punches
Looking for: hold and stabilize, keeping camper safety #1 priority, calling for help/backup from staff, moving other campers away from the situation, and prioritizing getting away after disengaging
How do we keep everyone safe during swim and kayak time?
All campers wear life jackets
Use the iceburg appropriately: no swimming around iceburg, look for people below you before you jump, and prioritize spending time with your camper
Kayaking and swimming do not happen on the same side of the lake
