Uterine Rupture

  1. Acute rupture of the uterus

  2. Prolonged labor, trauma, previous c-section

  3. Sudden abdominal pain, vaginal bleeding pause of labor, rigid abdomen

Preeclampsia/ Eclampsia

  1. Gestational hypertension

  2. Family history, chronic hypertension (over 35 y/o)

  3. Headache, edema (legs/feet), blurry vision, abdominal pain

Ectopic Pregnancy (1st trimester)

  1. The ovum is implanted in the wrong place, typically the fallopian tubes. Will cause rupture/ hemorrhage/ lethal.

  2. Pelvic inflammatory disease, intrauterine contraception devices, previous surgeries

  3. Abdominal pain,  vaginal bleeding, amenorrhea (lack of menstruation)

Abruptio Placentae (3rd Trimester)

  1.  Full/ partial detachment of the placenta, too early during 3 trimester

  2. Hypertension, meth/ cocaine use

  3. Abdominal pain w/dark vaginal bleeding

Placenta Previa (3rd trimester)

  1. Placenta is placed fully/ partial covering the cervical opening

  2. Previous C-Section, “grand multipara” -multiple live births

  3. Bright red vaginal bleeding,  usually no pain
