Can we interrupt Mrs. Nickelson when she is working with a small group?

No! Only if someone is hurt or there is an emergency. Please try to use 3 before me or wait until the group and Mrs. Nickelson finish.

What can we do if we don't have a pencil, marker, scissors, glue, etc.?

Grab the materials from the extra supplies bins. Any materials you grab from the bins are yours to keep. With the exception of the scissors.

Absolutely not! The bathroom is for doing your business, washing your hands, and getting back to class.

100

Can we leave the classroom without telling Mrs. Nickelson?

No! You must raise your hand to let the teacher know that you need to leave the classroom.

Then you will move your clip to show that you are in the bathroom, with the nurse, with another teacher, etc.

How should we enter the classroom?

1. Walk in quietly with our water bottle, snack, and iPad.

What are the expectations at Town Hall?

We use whole body listening! We listen with our ears, eyes on the speaker, bubbles in our mouth, hands to ourselves, and body is still.

200

What should we do if you have a question?

Raise your hand! Before you ask Mrs. Nickelson think, "Can I figure out the answer myself?" "Can I ask a friend?" "Can I ask another friend?" This is called 3 before me.

200

How should we line up for a transition to leave the classroom?

Walking quietly when our name/group is called to line up. Eyes are looking forward, bubbles in our mouth, hands are to ourselves, ears are listening to directions.

300

How do we work with a partner or small group?

We will help each other to be our best selves! We will encourage, guide, listen, and help our friends.

300
How do we return books after reading them?

The classroom library is organized by letters, series, and genre. Put the books back where you found them. If you're not sure you can place them in the book return bin.

300

How should we behave in the lunchroom?

We use our best manners! We talk quietly with the friends sitting around us, we discuss school appropriate topics, we clean up any messes we make, and we raise our hand if we need something.

300

How should we behave during instructional time?

We will use whole body listening! We will listen to the speaker with our ears, keep eyes on the speaker, bubbles in our mouth, keep hands to ourself, and keep our body still.

300

What should we do if Mrs. Nickelson rings a bell or claps her hands to a beat?

This means Mrs. Nickelson needs our attention. We need to stop what we are doing and give her our undivided attention.

400

What should we do if we are having a conflict with a friend?

Try to work it out! If you can't come to a solution then talk to Mrs. Nickelson or another adult that is present. They can help to mediate!

400

How should we handle materials such as math games and writing paper?

Everything in the classroom is organized and it needs to stay organized!

We follow the Golden Rule and the Willard Way! We help to clean up and we listen to the adults outside.

Use sign language! Mrs. Nickelson will tell you you may go by making eye contact and nodding or saying, "Yes, you may go."

400

How should we transition from the carpet to our desk and vice versa?

We transition quietly and quickly. We are whole body listening ready for instruction or we are ready to get started on our work right away.

500

What should our behavior sound and look like during partner and group work time?

We should use quiet whisper voices, stay focused on our task, and stay in our work area.

We leave iPads closed until Ms. Nickelson tells us to open them. And we close them as soon as Mrs. Nickelson tells us to.

Quietly read a book, whisper talk to a friend, or catch up on an assignment!

We are silent in the hallway, eyes are looking forward, and hands are to ourselves. There are classes and students learning!
