100

What is an environment?

An environment is all the living and nonliving things that surround an organism.

100

What is camouflage?

Camouflage is a way that animals blend in with their environment to avoid predators.

100

 What is a coral reef?

    • A coral reef is an underwater structure made from coral polyps that provide habitat for marine life.

100

Which of the following is an example of an organism?

A river

A swing

A flower

A flower

200

Name an example of an organism.

Any living thing:

example: flower, tree, animal, bacteria, fungus

200

Name a type of environment.

Forest, Desert, Rainforest, Coral Reef, etc

200

Why do animals have adaptations?

Animals have adaptations to help them survive in their environment.

200

Name one organism found in a coral reef.

Example: clownfish, fish, seahorses etc

200

What might happen to an oak tree's environment if squirrels are no longer in it?

The squirrels will not plant the tree's acorns, son now new oaks trees will be planted.

300

What do organisms need to survive?

Organisms need food, water, shelter, and air.

300

What are two things in an environment?

Plants

Animals

Bacteria

Fungus

300

Give an example of an adaptation.

The long neck of a giraffe helps it reach high leaves.

300

How does a coral reef provide food?

Coral reefs provide food by supporting a diverse array of fish and other marine organisms that feed on algae and plankton.

300

This frog has the following needs:

- insects to eat

- a place to live that is always damp and warm

- large leaves in trees that collect water for tadpoles (baby frogs) to grow in

tropical rainforest

400

How do organisms interact with their environment?

Organisms interact with their environment by obtaining food, finding shelter, and reproducing.

400

How does an environment affect organisms?

The environment provides resources that organisms need to survive, such as food and shelter.

400

How do adaptations help survival?

Adaptations allow organisms to find food, avoid predators, and thrive in their specific environment.

400

What protects fish in a coral reef?

Coral structures provide shelter and protection from predators.

Loggers are cutting down all the rainforest trees in an area. The land will be used to build houses or to keep cattle. What is most likely to happen to the monkeys that ate the fruit from trees in the rainforest?

The monkeys will move away to look for food.

500

Describe a food chain.

A food chain shows how energy and nutrients move from one organism to another, starting from producers to consumers.

500

Describe a coral reef.

A coral reef is a marine ecosystem made up of coral structures and diverse marine life, providing habitat and food for many organisms.

500

Describe a specific adaptation of a lion.

A lion's strong legs help it run fast to catch prey.

Sharp teeth to eat/tear their prey.

500

What happens if coral reefs die?

If coral reefs die, many marine species lose their habitat and the ecosystem becomes unbalanced.

500

Most lions alive today live in eastern and Southern Africa. Lions live in hot, grassy areas. They hide behind tall grass to sneak up on their prey. Lions also use shade from trees to cool off during the hot days. Lions used to live in more places, but now there are not as many lions left. For this reason, some people try to conserve the lion's environment so that lions will not become extinct.

Describe a living thing that a lion needs to hunt well.
