Susan is seen sitting upset at recess alone. Brian asks Susan what is wrong.  Susan tells Brian that she feels left out since no one picked her to play on the kickball game.  Brian says that he would also feel alone if he wasn't picked for a game and asks Susan if she would like to play a game of basketball with him.  

Yes- Brian was able to see that Susan was upset, identify that he also would feel upset and then offered to play a game with her.
