  • Zostavax® (live attenuated shingles vaccine) may be accepted as one of the two required varicella doses for compliance.
  • Shingrix® (recombinant shingles vaccine) cannot be counted toward the varicella series.

Instruct the individual to provide complete documentation. If unable to, complete a 3-dose Hepatitis B vaccine series.

Tee up 2nd MMR for 28 days later.  They would not qualify for titers at this time.

Employee states they are trying to get pregnant, but a Varicella vaccine is required for employment.  What is your next step?

Complete the protocol indicating they do not qualify for vaccination.  Review with a provider for next steps.

  If an employee presents with record of four or more Hepatitis B doses given in adolescence, and their antibody test is negative, what is your next step?

Consult the provider of the day to discuss if the “extra” doses would be considered booster doses vs lost doses.  

o     Lost dose – extra doses given to circumstances where they were accidentally given a dose due to lost records, provider change, unknow vaccination status etc.

Hepatitis B only.  All other vaccines must be obtained through the employee/volunteers Primary Care Provider.
