Part B: Which sentence best supports the answer?

Some animals have stronger senses than humans. Dogs, for example, have powerful noses. Sniffer dogs help find people who are trapped. They tell the rescue workers where the victims are. These dogs also smell bombs and alert the police. Eagles and hawks have extremely sharp eyes. This helps them see small rodents from far away. Elephants and cats can hear sounds that humans cannot. Bats and dolphins have echolocation. They can send out sound waves. These waves help find prey.

The ancient Egyptians lived along the Nile River. It was called the “fertile river.” The river runs from the middle of Africa up north. The Nile was very important to life in Egypt. Floods every year cover the land with fresh silt. This silt makes the land very good for growing food.

People dug canals to grow more food. These canals move water from the river to crops.

What is the central idea of this passage?

People who study plants start by looking at the plants/ They compare what they see. They later move on to more complicated things. We can compare different plants using our eyes. When we compare plants, it is sometimes easier to use the different plant structures. These structures can be used to compare plants. We can look at the stems, for example. The stems of the banana palm and the basil plant are different. The basil plant has a thin green stem. The banana palm has a thick brown woody bark covering its thick trunk.

You can compare plants by looking at them.

What are TWO reasons the author wrote this paragraph?

How can we make sounds louder? Have you ever seen someone talking into a megaphone? A megaphone makes our voices louder and travel further. Many instruments also make sounds louder in the same way. Wind instruments (Tube instruments) use a tube as a funnel to make sounds seem louder, similar to what you see with a megaphone. String instruments do the same but using a hollow shape.

To describe how to hear instruments make sounds louder. To compare a megaphone and instruments.

Why does a wing need a lift?

The only power that a wing needs is to be moved forward through the air. On a glider the wing is either pushed to get it started or it is brought somewhere high up and dropped like a hand glider pilot starting from the top of a Cliff and a powered airplane. The engines either push or pull the wings through the air. The shape and positioning of a wing is very important. Most wings are curved, which.Makes the air going over them go faster than the air going under them. Because the air above the wing moves faster, it is more spread out than the air below the wing. Air presses on everything around it even though you can't feel it. When there is more air, it pushes more on the things around it. The fast moving spread out air over the top of the wing lets the air on the bottom of the wing push the wing.Up creating a lift.

It needs lift to fly

Whay did the author write this paragraph?

There are many kinds of pollution.Unfortunately, we are familiar with trash lying around the pavements and waste in our rivers. This is ground and water pollution. You might also see trash polluting the side of the road. Air pollution is when smoking chemicals end up in the air, which means it is not good for us to breathe in. There are other types of pollution as well, including light and noise pollution.Noise pollution is any sound that continues for a long time and is loud, unpleasant and harmful to our ears.

What is the central idea?

Evaporation is when the sun heats up water and rivers, lakes, or the ocean and turns into vapor or steam. The water vapor leaves the water and goes into the air. Water vapor in the air gets cold and changes back into liquid, forming clouds. This is called condensation. Try this at home. Pour a glass of cold water on a hot day and watch what happens. Water forms on the outside of the glass. The water didn't leak through the glass; it came from the air. Water vapor in the warm air turns back into liquid when it touches the cold glass. Precipitation occurs when so much water is condensed that the air cannot hold it anymore. The clouds get heavy and water falls back to the earth. When water falls back to earth, it goes back into the oceans, lakes, or rivers. When it ends up on land, it will soak up into the earth and become part of the groundwater that plants and animals used to drink.

in the water cycle water evaporates condenses and falls as precipitation

What is the central idea?

Tails help an animal to move and swing. Monkeys, for example, balance in the trees, and Kangaroos use their tails to balance while they jump. Crocodiles use their tails to spin them around and around when they need to catch their prey, while scorpions often have poison in their tails. Beavers use their powerful tails to pat ground down hard and solid. Almost all fish use their tails for swimming and to steer their movement. Whales, dolphins, sharks, and many others use their tail as a short of rudder to steer them in a certain direction.Bird's tails are very important for steering as well.

Tails are helpful to many animals.

How is a guitar able to produce sound?

With her body you can make lots of different sounds. Every sound that you make involves you moving a part of your body. Many musical instruments use movement to make sounds. Let us look at a few common musical instruments. A man plucking the strings on a guitar. When a guitar string is plucked, the string vibrates and causes a sound wave to occur. The sound is amplified or made louder by the air vibrating in the hollow inside of the guitar. We can then easily hear the sounds produced by the guitar. A drum has a thin membrane or skin that is stretched tightly over the opening of something hollow. As the drummer beat this membrane, the membrane vibrates and makes the sound we hear. The trumpet player blows through closed lips into the trumpet. This makes a buzzing sound which causes the air inside the trumpet to vibrate. The vibrating air causes sound we can hear.

A guitar string is plucked, and the string vibrates to cause a sound wave to occur.

What is the authors point in writing this paragrpah?

Online schooling is something that we are all facing at this very moment. Some people dislike it and others are enjoying it a lot. Both sides have their reasons and it might be conflicting to explain. Online learning transforms the current state of education. This argument is very real since when things are online, many.Marie disappear and there's less human error. Giving classes in person might hold a person back. People get sick. Pandemics happen, cars break. A lot of things can happen during presence learning that doesn't necessarily happen online. Online learning has the advantage of flexibility, saving money.Fitting things into one schedule and other advantages. Some of the disadvantages are that it involves a lot more discipline for people, the student may miss opportunities and school experiences and peer interactions. Students that do online learning miss out on opportunities such as prom, graduation, and school clubs.

Comparing and contrasting the benefits of online school vs in person schooling.
