What is BMO Field?

BMO Field is a soccer stadium in Toronto, Ontario, located at Exhibition Place near the waterfront. It is best known as the home of Toronto FC.

The stadium officially opened in 2007 as Canada’s first large stadium built specifically for soccer (football). It was originally developed as part of Canada’s effort to grow the sport and host international matches.

The name “BMO Field” comes from the Bank of Montreal (BMO), which purchased naming rights when the stadium was built.

Over the years, the stadium has gone through several upgrades and expansions:

  • In 2010, it hosted major international soccer events.
  • In 2015, it was a key venue for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada.
  • In 2016, it was expanded with more seating and improved facilities to meet Major League Soccer standards.

Today, BMO Field is not only used for soccer but also for concerts and other sporting events. It remains an important landmark for Canadian soccer history and the growth of the sport in the country.
