NO! If glass is chipped/cracked, it could easily crack, break, or shatter much easier under extreme conditions such as heating it up.

No! They have holes in them!
If a teacher directs you to make a smelling observation of a mixture in a beaker / flask. What is the safe and proper way to do this?
Waive your hand over the top of the container to WAFT the air particles towards your nose to get an idea of a scent. Do NOT stick your nose in the container and take a whiff!
When is it appropriate to take off your safety goggles in the Science Lab?
When the lab is completely over and all the equipment has been safely put away properly. Also-when the teacher says it is appropriate.

Tell the teacher ASAP. Use a broom/dust pan to pick up pieces, NEVER YOUR BARE HANDS. Dispose broken glass properly.
Should I... go over to my friend in another group to talk about the latest gossip since I'm just waiting for our solution to dilute?
No! Stay with your group until the lab is completely finished and cleaned up! Even then, don't bother other groups that are still working!

You finish your lab. You clean and put away the equipment. You dispose of all chemicals properly. You put away your goggles and apron. What is the VERY last step you should do?
Wash your hands!

When using a Bunsen burner, what safety precautions should be taken?
Protect your eyes and body with goggles and usually an apron. Long hair should be pulled back, you should not be wearing any dangly jewelry or have loose sleeves around your wrist area. Hot equipment should be handled / transferred with the proper tools, do NOT carry hot items with your bare hand!

No!! There could be dangerous fumes you are unaware of or even an accident could harm you, preventing you from getting proper help.
Yes, as long as they are not loose sleeves and won't distract/disrupt you from moving your arms around or having sleeves that could potentially knock something over.
You want to keep a liquid that has solid particles in it. You do NOT want the solid particles. What 2 potential pieces of equipment would be best for this? (Assume you already have a beaker to pour into.)

Is it okay for students to go into the back and grab more of a chemical / substance or piece of equipment needed for a lab?
Not unless they have the instructor's permission!
