Calvin Cycle Define

It is the second stage of photosynthesis;it is light independent;materials are rearranged into oxygen and glucose.

100

Photosynthesis Define

The process of using sunlight to create energy for plants, algae, bacteria, etc.

100

Roots

The part of plants and trees that is responsible for absorbing water.

100

List the reactant of photosynthesis and explain how the plants collect them?

The reactant is water and carbon dioxide. The plants collect water by having the water absorbed from the soil by roots. The plants collect carbon dioxide through the tiny holes in their leaves which is the stomata

Oxygen

Chlorophyll Define

Collects sunlight and turns the plant green.

200

Stomata Define

Opening in leaves where Carbon dioxide enters

What role does sunlight play in photosynthesis? Is the reaction possible without it?

Explain why or why not.

Sunlight plays a very important role in photosynthesis since it starts the entire process to begin with. without sunlight, plants would not be able to perform photosynthesis specifically the first stage of it known as the light dependent reaction. As a result, plants wouldn't be able to survive.

200

List the product of photosynthesis and describe what the plants do with them after the process is complete.

The product of photosynthesis is Glucose and Oxygen.

What they do to glucose-

Plants use glucose for respiration. They break down glucose and the chemical energy thus released is used by the plant for other cellular activities. Glucose is also used to prepare starch and cellulose. It is used to produce oil or fat to store in seeds.

What they do with oxygen-

The plant then releases the oxygen back into the air, and stores energy within the glucose molecules. Which they leave through the stomata.

Carbon Dioxide Define

A reactant is taken in by plants through the stomata.

300

Sunlight Define

The source of energy for all living things.

300

Explain what would happen to life on earth if photosynthesis just stopped being a working

process. Provide details and examples to support your explanation. At least two

Without photosynthesis, no plants, trees, flowers, etc. Would be able to survive. And if they all die, them all the animals that eat them die, which causes a chain reaction across the earth food chains. As a result, of the ruined food chains, all living things would not be able to live without the existence of these prime producers. Also, another important aspect of life that would be affected is the oxygen levels. Photosynthesis is essential for releasing oxygen into the air. Without this process, we'd run out of oxygen very quickly.

300

What forms glucose

carbon, hydrogen, oxygen join together to form glucose.

300

all organisms get their energy from what and where does energy for life come from

Both sun

400

Glucose Define

A product that is also known as sugar and used or absorbed by plants for growth and energy.

400

Chloroplast Define

Organelle in plants where photosynthesis takes place.

400

Describe the two stages or steps of photosynthesis.

Step 1- collect raw materials(sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water) also known as the light dependent reaction(it needs light)

Step 2- The changes of the materials into glucose/sugar and oxygen also known as the Calvin Cycle or dark reactions because it does not need light.

400

what is 6CO2 in the equation

Carbon dioxide

400

the Calvin cycle is known as the dark reaction, but it is not very dark it can happen any time of the day. but does it require light to work?

No, it does not require light to work.
500

Oxygen Define

A product that is released by plants into the air since it's need by humans to survive.

500

Water

A reactant that is absorbed by the roots.

500

Write the chemical formula version of the photosynthesis equation. In word form.
