A 3 year old kiddo screams out loud, when you turn your head to look at them, they stop.

What is the function of this behavior and what can we do to replace it?

Attention

We can model appropriate ways to gain attention, utilize priming to let client know how to gain attention, use full physical prompting to tap shoulder, throughout session prompt client to appropriately gain attention when the maladaptive behavior is not present

When is the latest your highly recommended to put in any requested time off?

AT LEAST two weeks before your time off

Your two clients are listed in two different groups on the schedule, what should you do?

Reach out to the PCs immediately to see what group is most appropriate.

If they do not respond, assess the number of clients in a group and see what group may have more room.

You may also review the client's current skills and assess which group may best suit their clinical needs.

What are the three important pieces of information in a goal the create the condition for data collection? For example, this goal:

During structured routines with peers, Nico will utilize no more than 1 gestural prompt to participate and complete multi-step activities (2+ steps games e.g. arts and crafts, simons says, hot potato, etc).

The setting, the prompt allowance, and the actual skill.

So for this goal it would be:

1. Structured routines with peers

2. 1 gestural prompt

3. Completing a multi-step activity

Why is priming so efficient with ASD?

Traits of autism include rigidity and repetitive routines. Abrupt changes or unset expectations can trigger anxiety and dysregulation. Letting the clients know about the changes or expectations can allow them to prepare and regulate themselves for the change.

A five-year-old client is playing parachute with his peers, he wants to run under the parachute but there are too many kids. He begins to push his peers out of his way. What is the function of this behavior and what is an appropriate replacement?

Access to the parachute/play.

An appropriate replacement behavior is providing him with a functional way to request peers to move. If the client is nonverbal, you may prompt him to tap on their shoulder and point away. If they are verbal, you can provide him with the language "excuse me" or "move."

What is our session note completion policy and WHY is it important to turn them in on time?

Session notes are to be completed within 24 hours of completing the session per department policy.

It is important to turn them in on time because after the 72 hour mark, they are considered late to our insurance provider and can be subject to audits. It also must be submitted in order for us to receive our return rate.

Ahhhhh, all the kiddos in your group canceled and you are 1:1 with your client! There are no other groups you can join.

Time to build rapport and take time to target all of your kiddos goals!

You can reach out to the PC to let them know all the clients cancelled and let them know you may reach out for support.

Follow the original schedule and engage your client in different games and activities!

200

During play, client will respond to an echoic prompt to create a 2-word phrase related to play (e.g. "Boom, crash," "Slide down," "Pop up" etc.)

You are playing with the client and labeling different actions. You put a car down the ramp and say "Beep beep." The client repeats "eep eep."

One correct response using an echoic prompt.

What is noncontingent attention? Provide an example.

Noncontingent attention is a strategy where positive attention is given to someone regardless of their behavior, rather than as a reward for specific actions. This means that the attention isn't dependent on a particular behavior or performance. It's about providing attention on a regular schedule, whether or not the individual is engaging in a desired or undesired behavior.

For example, playing with your client or having a conversation with them throughout session.

300

You instruct your client to engage in cleanup of their snack. When prompted, they lay on the floor, smile and look at you. They continue to ignore there and smile at you. You eventually cleanup for them and transition them to the next room. When transitioning, you praise them for standing up and walking. What is the function of this behavior and what is the appropriate replacement behavior?

This behavior has a dual function with the primary function being escape and the secondary being attention.

Utilize priming to provide client with expectation that they can use their words to request help when cleaning up or request to be all done.

You can contrive several opportunities noncontingently throughout session to gain your attention, by tapping shoulder, saying your name, or having them show you what's in their hand.

300

What is the calling out sick protocol?

You must call out two hours before your session start time (else we get all these random subs and to allow us more time to find appropriate coverage) sent via email.

If you're calling out within the hour, send both an email and call CSD.

300

You are starting with a brand new client tomorrow, what should you do?

Review their initial assessment found in the funder report to get an understanding of their skills and goals they're working on.

Then look at the client schedule to see what group they will be joining.

Lastly, reach out to the PC of the client to assure they are overlapping your session and can provide you with any other necessary info.

When engaged in escalations, tantrums, or dysregulated behaviors (e.g. crying, stomping feet, screaming, etc.), client will follow a visual prompt to accept and engage in coping skills (i.e., 10 deep breaths, ask for hug, drink water, slowly count to 10, take a walk) within 5 minutes of the incident.

The client engages in a tantrum behavior due to peer knocking down their tower. The client engages in screaming, crying and stomping. You provide a verbal prompt for the client to engage in coping skills and he screams, "No." Your provide another verbal paired with model prompt and he just shakes his head. After three minutes, you tell client "Let's take deep breathes" and provide a coping skills visual. The client takes three deep breathes.

Incorrect response. A total of three prompts were used than the allotted one visual prompt.

300

if you're using planned ignoring, what else should you be providing either after the occurrence or throughout session?

Always provide a replacement behavior. If we are just ignoring the client, they know that whatever they're doing won't get our attention, but we don't teach them how they can!

400

A client is playing with toy trains. You see them independently sitting and using all the trains. A peer goes and sits with them but does not play with the trains. The client allows the peer to sit with them for three minutes until they suddenly hit them. The peer sits there and cries, so the client hits them again. What is the function of the behavior and what is a replacement?

Access. The client is attempting to gain access to all the trains or their own space.

You can prime and model the client to request space from peer or request "I want" from peer and assist the peer in walking away.

400

What three things should be completed by the end of day (or end of week if you're pushing it)?

Notes, timecard, and audits.

400
You are assigned with admin task list, what do you do?

You complete the admin task list by going around the clinic to organize and clean. You then check what items need to be restocked, if we have the materials, restock it, if we do not, reach out to your admin PC!

When presented with an adult-led structured group activity (e.g., arts n crafts, scavenger hunts, collaborative games etc.,), client will utilize no more than 2 prompts to participate and maintain engagement for up to 8 minutes.

The peer invites the client to play uno with them. They continue to play uno until there is a winner, and the total duration is 10 minutes.

This interaction is not considered for this goal.

What is the most to least prompting hierarchy?

Full Physical

Partial Physical

Verbal

Model

Gestural

Visual

Positional

A four year old kid walks into a room of 8 other kids. She sits down for circle time at the table with them. When they start to sing chicka chicka boom boom, she attempts to get up and walks away from the table. What is the function of this behavior and what is the appropriate replacement behavior?

Sensory. The client may be experiencing too much auditory or visual stimuli and may become dysregulated.

We can provide priming before circle time to request a break. We can model or use visuals to prompt the client to request a break, head phones, or engage in another sensory regulating activity.

500

What do you do if you are involved in an incident with a client?

Immediately reach out to your PC or Luis Galvan and call the concentra line to file a report.

500

You have a five year old client who typically responds to a model prompt to sign "I want." The client is attempt to grab a toy from your hand so you model the sign, "I want." The client does not respond and looks at you. You wait 30 seconds and then model again. "I want." The client still reaches for the toy and does not respond to your prompt.

You can do several things here. The most efficient is providing error correction by increasing the prompt level, the next step is to provide the verbal prompt, "Client, do "I want." If they do not respond to that, provide a full physical prompt, of the sign "I want." then provide them the item.

500

When no longer wanting to engage or finishing an activity, client will utilize a verbal paired with model prompt to engage in signing "all done" (i.e. placing hands up and shaking them.)

You and the client are sitting at the table doing arts and crafts. The client attempts to walk away from the table and you tell them, "All done?." The client continues to attempt to leave and you provide a model prompt of the sign "All done." The client imitates the sign.

Correct response, you only used a verbal prompt and a model prompt, but no more than that!

500

What is prompt fading, why do we use it, and when do we use it?

Prompt fading is decreasing the prompt to the next less intrusive prompt, for example partial physical to verbal.

It is used to increase independence in the skill.

We begin to prompt fade when the client shows mastery in the current prompt level. For example, if the client responds to a verbal prompt put shoes on, we may move down to just putting on our shoes to model for them what they can do.
