1. Give them a warm, welcoming greeting. ex. Good morning, Ben!  Hi Mom!  Ben, we have some trucks ready on the carpet for you!

2. Ask questions that show parents that you care!

3. Get down on the child's level (or up if they are in their parent's arms) and continue conversation face-to-face, engage!  Warm and smiling!  Encourage children to come to activities, greet friends!

They would be accident reports.

Child C accidentally tripped which accidentally caused the blocks to hurt Child A and B.

As addressed in our last staff meeting, please name the steps of a safe transition from a child from one classroom to another.

1. Collect all child's belongings and contact sheet.

2. Do a headcount of all remaining children and confirm with room partners what that total is without the transitioning child.  

3. Sign child out on the attendance and move them over on Connect to other classroom.

4. Walk child to other classroom; do handover with educators: talk about the morning and how it went, last diaper changes or any other notes.  Handover contact documents and belongings.

5. Upon returning to classroom, please headcount your children again and confirm with room partners of any changes and that child has been marked as moved on attendance etc.

Name the steps of completing an illness report.

1. Write the child's full name and the date.

2. Check mark what symptoms have been observed ie. vomiting, diarrhea, rash (including location on body), or other ie. fever

3. Write details of illness and the time that it was first observed.

4. If temperature was observed, please write the temperature and the time.

5. Notify the CD or ACD prior to parent being contacted and have them sign and date.

6. Recheck temperature if needed for fever and log the times.

7. Staff signature required at bottom of page, parent signature required at pick-up with the time.

8. Illness report must be reported in Classroom Daily Log book.

You are on the playground nearest to the front door of the childcare.  You see a family at the door with a young child.  They are standing and looking through the glass, turning around and waving at the children, smiling and engaging.  What do you do?

1. Ask them to identify themselves.

2. If they are a new family, open the main door and introduce them to the CD or ACD through the office window.

3. If family is attending a tour, please invite them in and ask them to sign in on visitor log.  Please make CD or ACD aware that tour has arrived, or other supporting educator.

Please do not give out the door passcode to unidentified individuals.  While they may look like a parent and/or family, we cannot assume that they are part of our Brightpath community and need to keep the building safe! :)

Leggings, yoga pants and athletic wear are examples of what?

Improper options for bottoms.


Bottoms can be black jeans, cargo pants, scrub pants etc.  Capris or shorts (no shorter than 2" above the knee), and skirts (no shorter than 2" above the knee).

A child has vomited on Wednesday at childcare.  They went home at 2pm.  When can they return to care?

Vomiting requires dismissal from school for 48-hours or until they are vomit-free without help of medication.

This means that the child could not return until Monday.

What are the steps to filling out an accident/incident report?

1. Child's full name and date and time of incident.

2. Number of children in the space.

3. Write the entire accident/incident.

4. Write actions taken by staff and any additional information.

5. Inform CD and ACD and get them to sign-off on the report.

6. Inform parents and write their contact name and time at the top.

7. Staff and parents to sign at pick-up. *must be same day or next scheduled day, no later*
