What are 2 expectations when playing on the "tornado"

1-feet and arms are on the ropes

2-do not hang on the bars when it's turning/Feet on the ground when pushing it.

What are the expectations when you are called to sit at the carpet for a lesson?

3 things must be done

1.go to the carpet the first time you are called

2.choose a place where you will not have any distractions (away from friends)

3.Voices are off when Mrs. Lopez's voice is on.

               Be respectful.

You are doing your part. Do not wait to copy from others. Find out what you can do to help.

Ask if anyone in your group needs help

If you don't understand something, make sure you ask everyone in your group for help before you ask your Mrs. lopez

What happens if I gave the wrong answer during a large group lesson?

You remember that you are here to learn =) 

give yourself grace (Mrs. Lopez loves it when you try and loves it even more when you learn from your mistakes.)

Keep your eyes on the explanation and have a good attitude about learning =)

How much charge is low enough to plug my computer in for charge?

30% or lower.

When do we line up to go inside?

At 2nd recess bell.

The first bell is for the lower grades.

What is the 3L expectation when you come into the classroom back from recess, specials, etc?

You come in with voices off. 

We do this to cool off and get our minds and bodies calm and ready to learn =)

Read at your desk, complete any unfinished work, head down on desk. (NO CHROMEBOOKS OR QUESTIONS AT THIS TIME)

How do you treat peers in your group?

Kind-if someone doesn't know something, help.  Don't make fun

Learn from others.  Be open to learning things from your peers

Be patient-just because something is easy for you, it doesn't mean it will be easy for everyone else.

Someone hurt your feelings during recess or group work.  What do you do?

Best thing to do is know how awesome you are and ignore any lies someone might say about you.  

If it's something that is difficult to ignore, let your teacher know.  She will decide if it's something that can be solved in class or if Mr. Landhuis and your parents need to be involved.

When can I work on my computer?

When instructed by Mrs. Lopez

AR tests can be taken during Morning work time. There may be other activities that can be done on your computer during the morning (make sure to look at morning slides for that information)

What do we do if we see a ball on the ground and it's time to go in from recess?

We take it to the shed QUICKLY/running to the shed is encouraged.

What does it mean when Mrs. Lopez turns on her Smiley light?

It means do not approach. 

She is either testing or doing something that requires All of her attention.  Please wait until light is off. (unless you have a big emergency that cannot wait)

Like if you see the Vikings outside our window =)

What level voice is allowed for group work?

Voice levels 1 and 2.

voice that you use if you are having a normal conversation with someone.

Only the people in your group should be able to hear you.

What do you do if you feel sad about something that is happening or happened at home?

We have awesome counselors in school that you can reach out to for help with your big problems. 

Let your teacher know. She will find the resources that you need =)

Can I use Google or Yourtube on my computer?

ABSOLUTELY NOT. 

Using these sites or others that are not in your Clever account will result in you loosing access to your chromebook. 

The tech department monitors all computers. They may get the principal and your parents involved if this happens.

What do I do if I have a big problem during recess?

I tell a teacher on recess duty. 

Do not wait to go inside to tell your teacher.  It needs to be taken care of at recess.

What are the expectations for morning work?

Morning work is done quietly.  

You must complete morning work in the morning!

or it must be completed during recess or during a preferred class activity such as Dojo Island, or computer games.

What are the expectations during centers. 

1. You work the entire time

2.If someone is distracted or trying to distract you. Be kind and let them know KINDLY to stay on task.

What can you do if you are very, very upset and you just feel like you are going to explode!

If you have very big feelings, the best thing to do is to tell your teacher "I need a minute"

This will let your teacher know that you have to pause from what you are doing or talking about and she will show you a nice, safe spot in the classroom where you can cool off and come back to class routine when you are ready.

What is the proper way to hold my chromebook?

both hands should be used to hold your chromebook at all times.

We do not hit/push or call any other student or teacher bad names or bad words. 


Included: mean words to try to make another student feel bad or sad.

What are the expectations during Independent Reading? IDR

1.Find a spot away from others and use flex sitting responsibly (no rolling on it) return it where you got it from. 

2.Read the whole time (good reader strategies)

3.Read one book at a time

What happens if I don't finish my work during centers?

You will finish it during recess or a preferred class activity.

You make a lot of your own choices in 3L.  Make sure you make good choices to get good consequences =)

What do I do if I see that one of my peers is having a big emotion?

You let someone know right away. The closest adult at school is the best person.

What are 3 things that you should not do to your chromebook?

1. Do not have any opened drink containers around or close to your computer.

2.Do not slam it shut

3.Do not purposefully push in hard on the keys.
