What is weathering?

What are chemical sedimentary rocks?
A rock that has an interlocking crystalline texture (fine grained minerals that are well aligned) but DO NOT include remains of organisms.
What is a Chemical Sedimentary Rock?
The word that describes what a rock is made of.
What is composition?
carbonate rock that has been formed from compacted and cemented hard parts of ocean organisms.
What is limestone?
This is the process that lays weathered and eroded material (sediment) down.
What is Deposition?
The pieces of minerals and rock fragments found in some sedimentary rocks.
What are clasts?
A sedimentary rock that has a bumpy, rough texture OR layers.
What is a clastic sedimentary Rock?
This is what I can see that helps me determine the composition of a rock?
What is color?
A fossil fuel formed from compressed organic remains.
What is coal?
This is the process that squeezes sediments together and forces out fluids.
What is compaction?
Rocks that are made of rock fragments and broken minerals that are cemented together.

This texture will tell me that a rock was moved by flowing water.
What are ROUNDED clasts?
The reason a rock has 1 uniform color.
What is 1 dominant mineral?
Rock salt, rock gypsum, and limestone.
What are Chemical Sedimentary rocks?
This is the process of moving/transporting weathered material (sediment).
What is erosion?
Rocks that are made by organisms or the remains of organisms.

This is the word for how a rock is put together.

The mineral that will decide how dark or light a rock is.
What is silica?
Conglomerate, Sandstone, Arkose and Shale.

The process that binds/glues sediment together.

Rock that is made from the repeated processes of weathering, erosion, and deposition that leads to compaction and cementation.
