What do you do when you want to talk in class?
Raise your hand quietly until you are picked.
What do you do when you get in class?
You hang your backpack on the hooks outside the classroom, come inside, take out your morning work, and get started right away. I will be taking attendance during this time.
What do you when you walk to the office, recess or lunch?
You walk in a quiet and straight line.
What are the 3 B’s all McKinley Bears should follow?
Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible.
How do you get your group to work together?
By taking turns talking and sharing.
What do you do to help other be a better student?
You encourage others by saying positive things. No put-downs!
How do you ask for help in class?
You ask a partner and/or tablemate. If you still can't get the answer, raise your hand quietly and wait.
When the whistle blows during recess, what should you do?
You must stop what you're doing and walk to the class cone.
What should you do if you have a problem or conflict with another student?
Talk it out respectfully, get help if needed, and work to solve the problem/repair the relationship.
How many people is considered a group?
2 or more people.
How do students respect other students properties?
By not touching them or destroying them. Ask to use something first before taking anything.
When can I use the bathroom?
Before school, during recess, and during lunch recess. If you need to go during class, it needs to be an emergency.
What should you do with playground equipment when recess is over?
Stop playing and return the equipment to its proper place before lining up.
True or False: School behavior rules only apply when you are inside the school building.
False. Rules can apply on school grounds, traveling to/from school, at lunch, and at school events/activities.
What should you do if someone in your group has a different idea than you?
Listen respectfully, discuss the ideas, and work together.
What kind of food can students have in class?
Water
When can I sharpen my pencil?
Before school, during recess time or afterschool. You can also trade your pencil for another.
What should you do if you have a problem with another student during recess or lunch?
Try to solve it respectfully and ask an adult for help if needed.
What can you earn when a staff member sees you demonstrating positive BEARS behavior?
A BEAR Paw ticket.
What does a good working group look like?
They are sharing, helping, and encouraging others and getting your work or project done.
How can you respect others?
By listening to them, taking turns sharing, and using appropriate language and gestures.
What are the expectations when you are working independently or at centers?
Stay on task, work quietly, follow directions, use materials correctly, and move quickly and quietly when it’s time to rotate.
What does safe and respectful behavior look like during recess and lunch? Give two examples.
Possible answers: keeping hands and feet to yourself, including others, using equipment correctly, following game rules, cleaning up, and listening to adults.
Are field trips and school activities a right or a privilege, and what could cause you to lose that privilege?
A privilege. Inappropriate behavior or not following school expectations could cause you to lose it.
What kind of noise will working in a group sound like?
Students talking quietly but not disrupting others.
