  • One day, when his people went to the outskirts of the city for a holiday, he was the only one in the city. That day in order to stop the people from disobeying Allah, he went to the temple and destroyed all the idols, except for the biggest one, and hung an axe around it. 

  • When the people came and questioned him, he blamed it on the biggest idol, to make the people understand their ignorance. Instead the people were very angry at Ibrahim (a.s) and decided to build a huge fire. The fire was so enormous, that even the bird would suffocate from the fumes of the fire. They built a catapult to throw Ibrahim (a.s). But Ibrahim (a.s) has full trust in Allah (swt). He made dua to Allah:

    • Arabic: Hasbi Allahu wa naimal wakeel

    • English: Allah is sufficient for me and He is the best disposer of Affairs

Who did Ibrahim leave in the desert of Makkah? what happened?

  • Allah swt commanded Ibrahim (a.s) to take Hajar and Ismail to a barren desert (Makkah). When Ibrahim (a.s) was leaving them there, Hajar did not complain, because she trusted Allah. 

  • Baby Ismail (a.s) was thirsty and needed water and was crying. In search of water Hajar ran between mountains Safa and Marwa 7 times while she made dua to Allah to provide for her son. She made an effort and had complete trust in Allah. After this Allah (swt) commanded Angel Jibril to strike the ground and the blessed water zam-zam flowed out. Later  Allah willed for more travelers to come to Makkah and it developed into a prosperous city.

    • Takes care of the rain and  the weather, by the permission and will of Allah.

  • Angel Israfil (a.s)

    • By the permission of Allah, Will blow the horn first to end the world, then will blow horn again to begin the Day of Judgment

  • Malakul Mawt (a.s) (Angel of Death)

    • By the permission of Allah, is responsible for death. Takes soul out of human during death.

  • Muslims initially thought they won, but when the archers from the hill came down (even though they were told to stay on guard), the Quraish came around and attacked again, while the muslims were off guard. This caused the Muslims to lose.

  • Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’s uncle Hamza (r.a) was martyred, he is the leader of the shuhada, and the lion of Allah.

Which son was Ibrahim (a.s) commanded to sacrifice? what happened?

  • When Ismail (a.s) grew older Ibrahim (a.s) came to visit him. During this time Ibrahim (a.s) had a dream, through which Allah (swt) commanded him to sacrifice his son, Ismail (a.s). Ibrahim (a.s) knew this was a test from Allah and he loved Allah more than anything in the dunya, so he was ready to sacrifice Ismail (a.s). When he talked to Ismail (a.s) about the matter, Ismail (a.s) was obedient and told his father to obey the command of Allah. After preparing for the sacrifice, when Ibrahim (a.s) was about to sacrifice his son, Allah sent Angel Jibril to move Ismail (a.s) and place a ram underneath his knife.  Ibrahim (a.s) and Ismail (a.s) passed the test and were rewarded for their obedience and trust in Allah (swt). Every year we celebrate Eid ul Adha to remember this great event and understand that we should sacrifice our desires in this life for a greater reward in the afterlife.

    • The hardest test for mankind. 

    • He will claim to be God, and he will punish anyone who rejects him. He will only have one eye. 

    • Only believers will be able to recognize the word kafir (disbeliever) on his forehead. 

  • Prophet Isa (a.s) will descend from the heavens down to earth and defeat Dajjal, and for some time, muslims will rule with justice all over the world

What happened during the Battle of Khandaq (trench)?

  • The Quraish gathered a large army and were on the way  to kill the muslims. Salman al Farsi (r.a) suggested digging a trench around madina. In a few nights, the Muslims finished digging the trench. This was a great obstacle for the army, and the army instead laid a siege on Madina (prevented food/supplies from entering & exiting). 

  • While this was happening the jewish tribe Banu Qurayzah betrayed the muslims, and was trying to attack the women and children that were in madina.

  • Allah helped the Muslims by causing very strong winds to blow against the army, destroying their supplies, and forcing them to leave.

  • Muslims were safe and victorious
