In 1989, the oil tanker Exxon Valdez spilled oil off the coast of Alaska. The oil covered aquatic plant life and small birds and animals. Describe the effects an oil spill, such as the Exxon Valdez oil spill, has on the transfer of energy in an ecosystem.
One, the oil may kill the plant life making it impossible for plants to perform photosynthesis.
Second, the animals that eat plants will have less to eat and will have to move.
Lastly, the other animals that eat the small animals will have less to eat too and will need to find something else to eat or move on.
