Imagine you go to the beach on vacation, and your favorite beach contains big rocks that are surrounded by water. You come back to the same spot several years later, and the bottom of the rocks have decreased in size. Write a CLAIM as to what happened to the rocks.
The water weathered the rocks over the years
Imagine you go to the beach on vacation, and your favorite beach contains big rocks that are surrounded by water. You come back to the same spot several years later, and the bottom of the rocks have decreased in size. What EVIDENCE do you have that the rocks weathered away over time.
The rocks were larger in the before picture. The rocks are in water. The rocks are most weathered at the bottom.
Imagine you go to the beach on vacation, and your favorite beach contains big rocks that are surrounded by water. You come back to the same spot several years later, and the bottom of the rocks have decreased in size. CLAIM: weathering has occurred. EVIDENCE: the rocks are in water, and the base is most weathered. What is your reasoning?
Based on this evidence, we can conclude that weathering caused the rocks to change over the years. In the before picture, the rocks were larger and wider at the bottom. The waves coming and going on the beach wore the rock down on the bottom of the rock. The rock at the top does not appear to be any different and was not impacted by the water.
