Why do we call the Mass, “Mass?”

“Mass” comes from the Latin root “missa” which is said (in translation) during the final blessing and means to be sent forth or to be dismissed, and it is the root of the word “mission.” When we leave the Mass, we are sent out on a mission to live out the Mass in our daily lives and spread the Good News.
