Students should correctly set up the Dophler Machine. Place cuff on patient left back leg, and then use Ultrasonic Lube, and place it on directly on the bean of the patient's paw before turning on the machine and once you hear the heartbeat, you pump the Spiggy, until you DO NOT hear it anymore and then release and when you hear the heartbeat again then you know you need to record that BP Number.

1st Make Surgical Scrub. Hint: Solution & Scrub

2nd Prep a Patient, by using a stuffie and V-Trough, show the class how you would position patient, tie down, shave and clean patient. 


Show the class that you can tie down the patient properly in Ventral, and then you shave the area that will need surgery, then do Scrub, then Soln, x 3 alternating until patient as been properly cleaned.

Set up a patient to the Anesthesia machine as you explain the function of each part.

Make sure students picks the correct size of Reservoir and places it on the machine, sizes ET Tube correctly on patient, places it, sets patient on ventral, connects Anesthesia machine, and explains that the Valve should be open at all times, where the oxygen is located and to turn on first, then Anesthesia and how to turn on, show where the oxygen flows in and how it flows out as CO2 into the soda lime and how removes CO2 from the gas  flow. 

Record the date you changed the Soda lime and know that turns purple needs to be changed out ASAP since it can go back to white.
