What type of energy do objects in motion have?
Kinetic Energy
Magnets have a negative and positive pole. What happens if you try to touch the positive ends of two magnets together?
The positive poles will repel each other.
What do we use/measure to describe the motion of a moving object?
Direction and Speed
This pulls objects to its center of the Earth. It keeps you grounded.
Gravity
The push or pull of an object that causes it to move or change directions.
Force.
1) Energy is transferred from the red ball to the blue ball.
2) The greater the force on the red ball, the farther the blue ball will travel.
Describe the direction and speed of two racing shells (think Boys in the Boat), red and yellow, with the red shell in the lead. Use the words same, different for direction and greater, less, or equal for speed.
The shells are going in the same direction. The red boat has a greater speed.
A toy car rolling along different surfaces will experience different amounts of friction. A toy car would encounter the most friction when rolling on what type of surface?
A rough surface (for example: a sandy beach, over grass, over rocks)
What force acts upon a ball when it is rolling on the grass and then stops?
Friction from the ground.
A car and a truck travel at the same speed on a road in the same direction. Both vehicles slow down with the same stopping force. Why does the truck need more distance the the car to stop?
The truck has more mass.
