Students set up 3 identical plants. They give each plant a different brand of fertilizer. At the end of 2 weeks, they measure the height of each plant.

1. Use a magnet to get out the iron filings.
2. Add water to the mixture and stir to dissolve the salt.
3. Pour the mixture through a filter to get out the sand.
4. Evaporate the water to leave the salt behind.
Draw a model and explain why seasons occur on Earth.
Due to the Earth's tilt, one hemisphere will receive more direct sunlight than the other hemisphere at different points during the year. For example, when the Northern Hemisphere is tilted toward the sun, it is receiving more direct light, so it is experiencing winter. Meanwhile, the Southern Hemisphere will be receiving less direct sunlight, so it would be experiencing winter.
Mrs. Pate set up the following investigation with her three classes. All three classes are similar in size and ability.
For the first class she followed these steps:
1. Set the thermostat to 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Give students math test.
3. Grade and record scores.
She then repeated this procedure at 70 degrees and 80 degrees with the other 2 classes.
