100
What is matter?
Matter is everything and anything around you. It takes up space.
100
What is a liquid?
A type of matter where the molecules move freely. All liquids will take the shape of their container.
100
What is weathering?

The process of rocks being broken down into smaller pieces. This can happen by rain, ice, or plants growing.

100
What is adaptation?
How a plant, animal, or person has an easier time surviving in their habitat. This process can happen over many generations.
100
What is static electricity?
When two objects have positively charged electrons. The electrons bounce off one object and onto the other object.

Example:  You take off a sweater, and your hair sticks up.

Example:  You rub a balloon on your hair, and the balloon sticks to a wall.

200
What is mass?
The measure of how much matter is in something. How much does an object weigh?
200
What is gas?
It is similar to oxygen, and the molecules do not take up any shape.
200
What is erosion?

Surface soil and rocks are worn away by glaciers, water, and wind.

200
What is a shield volcano?
This is the largest volcano, and has gentle slopes.
200
What is current electricity?
The flow of electrons in a circuit. A wire needs to connect all parts of the circuit together.
300
What is volume?
The amount of space an object takes up.
300
What is physical change?
The process of changing a something, but it can always go back to the way it was before.

Example:  You braid your hair, and then you take the brad out.

Example:  You see a glass window, and then a baseball breaks the window into tiny pieces.

300

What is deposition?

The process of giant boulders breaking down into smaller rocks, and the smaller rocks eventually breaking down into grains of sand.

300
What is a composite volcano?
A steep cone volcano. The magna comes up from the magma chamber.
300
What is lightning?
When the positive and negative electrons split apart in the ground. The negative electron in the cloud is attracted to the positive electron on the earth's surface. When the negative electron (cloud) attracts to the positive electron (tree), a bolt of lightning occurs.
400
What is weight?
The amount of matter an object has.
400
What is chemical change?
If an object changes completely.

Example:  You have a fire, and eventually the burning wood turns to ash.

Example:  You have a fresh apple on the counter, and eventually it turns brown and mushy.

400
What is physical weathering?
When rocks and soil are slowly broken down over time.

Example:  A large jagged rock is under a waterfall. Eventually the jagged rock will become smooth, because large amounts of water are falling on it.

400
What is a cinder volcano?
A volcano with very steep slopes. The magma comes from the earth's core.
400
What is electric circuits?
The path the electrons follow. There must be a source that will give the electrons power.
500
What is a solid?
The molecules in a solid vibrate slowly, and are close together.
500
What is chemical weathering?
When an object is outside and it is exposed to rain, wind, snow, etc.

Example:  A metal chain is outside, and eventually the chain will develop rust from the oxygen around it.

500
What are plate tectonics?
There are invisible puzzle pieces under the earth's core. When these plate tectonics move, they can cause earthquakes, volcanoes, and cracks on the earth's surface.
500
What are electric conductors?
Copper, steel, gold, brass, and aluminum are all good electric conductors.
