The person who designs the lighting looks for a show
What is a LIGHTING DESIGNER?
A long speech by one actor.
What is a MONOLOGUE?
Actors are told where to move by the director or in the text of the script.
What are STAGE DIRECTIONS?
The structure onstage that represents places in the play, like a house or a front porch.
What is the SET?
Where a play takes place (in a story).
What is the SETTING?
The person who designs the set for a show.
What is a SET DESIGNER?
You must bring this with you to an audition to give them an idea of your experiences. You also usually have one of these for job interviews too.
What is a RESUME?
The dressing room area where the actors hang out before the show.
What is a GREEN ROOM?
The lines spoken by two or more actors onstage.
What is DIALOGUE?
The text of a play that is told in dialogue form.
What is a SCRIPT?
The general phrase for the people who help out behind the scenes on various crews.
Stage Crew
The person who is the leader of stage crew and helps out the director by taking notes during rehearsals.
What is a STAGE MANAGER?
The general area around the stage that is covered by a curtain.
What is the BACKSTAGE?
An actor must do this in order to be heard onstage.
What is PROJECT their voice?
These are written in the script, in (parentheses) or italics and/or told to the actor by the director during blocking rehearsals.
Example: Stage Right, Stage Left, Down Stage, Up Stage, etc.
